~Traveling Back in our States History~

This year celebrates 150 years of statehood for Oregon. There has been many different ways of celebrating. One of the dairies came up with “150th Edition Flavor” for their ice cream. I can’t remember what it was now, even though I bought it and ate it. I remember it was good! More locally, our county had a “150th” birthday party for Oregon. They had it set up so that you could see what life was like 150 years ago. There were many hands on activities for the children. From Candle making to scrubbing clothes on a washboard. We had a great afternoon pretending we lived 150 years ago. Happy Birthday Oregon!!!

a few days ago we made it to a local farm and each child picked out a pumpkin for my front porch. It was fun to watch what they picked and hear their reasons why. Ben had to have the biggest. So bug that he could not even carry it. Maryann chose a very small perfectly round and very clean pumpkin. Laura chose hers to be a different size from the others so that it would be a “balanced looking group of pumpkins”
