The children asked for two vacations this summer. Crater Lake and the Redwoods. It’s been 12 years since we were at Crater Lake and Ben was only a few months old. We camped in a tent with a two year old and a baby. Eric had just graduated with his pre-med degree and we were super excited about heading to Kenya in a few months. We had NO idea of the adventures ahead of us! Ha!!
Now, twelve years later, 7 children- the youngest being three, and Eric having all his school behind him and a bonafide doctor, we were back. And oh, the fun to be had! We hiked and swam, (I had no idea they actually let you swim in the lake!) and drove around the rim. I love watching our boys get out in Gods amazing creation. There is no holding them back! Everybody loves the water wherever we are. So a crystal, clear, blue, lake was a playground haven. It was hard to stop taking pictures. How do you capture the incredible awe-ness of God’s creation? I didn’t feel capable.
We camped in our trailer. It’s the best. I seriously can’t image camping in a tent with our family at this stage in life. I know I’ve lived with nomadic people tribes with no electricity or running water, and survived, but I can’t imagine packing and unpacking for a tent camping trip. Our trailer makes life so easy. We grab some clothes and food and we are ready to go! We love camping together. We had fun burning marshmallows and making banana boats. (Not my favorite, but Eric and the children love them!) We stayed up late playing cards and explored everything around us. It was an awesome trip!
